People make millions of New Year's resolutions each January and Lee County Domestic Animal Services is inviting the community to "Skip the Jog and Walk a Dog" as part of theirs.
Make pets a part of your New Year's plan and consider that a new pet can help you achieve many of the most popular goals set each year.
The adoption fee for dogs over 30 pounds will be just $25 through Jan. 30 to assist potential pet owners in finding a new exercise partner and best friend.
There are many ways pets can improve your life:

- Reduce stress - There is no better stress reducer than the companionship of a devoted pet. Research has shown that contact with animals has many health benefits.

The adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, de-worming, flea treatment, heartworm test for dogs six months and older, feline aids and leukemia test for cats, Lee County pet license for pets three months and older, microchip ID, and a 10-day health guarantee.
The adoption package has a total value of $500.

Adoption hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Animal Services, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers.
